A review of how well the predictions are (or aren’t) holding up
Fall is in full swing, the leaves are falling, and so are the tears of fantasy owners with broken dreams. Every fantasy football season is a weird one, filled with disappointments and surprises. 2022, in all its infinite bizarreness, is no exception to the rule in the NFL.
Since I had the audacity to put out fantasy predictions in the lead up to the season, I figured it would be a great time at the halfway point of the season to gauge how well I’m doing. I’m gonna leave the super easy slam dunkers (like the Bills scoring points) off the board and just go with the more poignant predictions.
For each conference, I’ve gathered the top seven predictions I got right and the top seven predictions I got wrong. Still plenty of season left for some more to go either way, but
WHERE IT WENT RIGHT – AFC

- Tua (when healthy), Waddle, and Hill are scoring points all over the place
- Derrick Henry keeps rolling, regardless of how bad the rest of the offense is
- The Colts passing attack is as ghastly as advertised
- James Cook is still behind Devin Singletary and now Nyheim Hines in Buffalo
- The Ravens and Dolphins backfields are total messes-by-committe
- Pederson has the Jags offense going in the right direction on all fronts
- Nobody is liking what Russell Wilson is cooking in Denver
WHERE IT WENT WRONG – AFC

- The Carr/Adams bromance in Las Vegas has been underwhelming
- Pat Mahomes doesn’t need Tyreek Hill to be awesome
- Rhamondre Stevenson is the big boy in the Pats backfield duo
- Elijah Moore is getting no love from his Jet QBs
- Najee Harris has eaten only yards for loss so far
- AJ Brown was a lot harder to replace than the Titans figured
- Where have all the Chargers (not named Ekeler) gone?
WHERE IT WENT RIGHT – NFC

- Jaylen Hurts is having a MVP style season for Philly
- We definitely needed to worry about Matt Stafford’s elbow
- Trey Lance did not provide any kind of bump to the 49ers offense
- The Cardinals offense struggled mightily without DeAndre Hopkins
- The Brady sabbatical was a warning sign for the season
- Aaron Rodgers could not make this WR group better
- Justin Fields is the lone shining light of Chicago
WHERE IT WENT WRONG – NFC

- The Seahawks offense is way better than anyone could have guessed
- The Bucs offense is way worse than anyone could have guessed
- Everyone missed on Kyle Pitts
- Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon have not been a dynamic duo of fantasy
- AJ Brown’s stat line in Philly is even better than it was in Tennessee
- The Dallas D is astoundingly good, both in fantasy and the real world
- Tony McLauren can only do so much with bad Commander quarterback play
